Details

Choose from a treasure trove of master patterns or create one out of wax. We'll be using aluminium flasks packed tightly with sand ready for object impressions, a pouring funnel, and air vents. Pour molten silver into the flask and uncover you creation! We'll the be turning our pieces into wearable treasures to take home. Who is it for? Beginners onwards. Please note that a good level of dexterity and eyesight is required. Over 16s with accompanying adult. What will I learn? Sandcasting techniques Mastermaking and moulding Pouring funnels, air vents and placement How to prepare a crucible, roll and pour molten metal. How to solder and combine your pieces into wearable treasures. Finishing and polishing of your pieces. What's included Included in the day is the use of all the equipment required, 30g of silver for melting (additional available to purchase), casting materials and sterling silver findings to complete your pieces. The workshop also includes tea, coffee and biscuits. We break for an hour between 12.30 and 1.30 for lunch. What shall I bring? Reading glasses if you use them and magnifying goggles if you have them. Closed toed shoes are advised and please tie long hair back and avoid loose flappy clothes.
