If you're looking for a way to enhance your jewellery work by adding stones then flush setting is a great way to get started. Who is it for? Previous experience of working in silver, including use of a flex shaft or micro motor is essential. Please note that a good level of dexterity and eyesight is required. Over 16s with accompanying adult. What will I learn? We'll start the day looking at stone anatomy in relation to the measurement and placement of flush set stones giving a greater understanding of the process required. This will include an overview of the burrs and other equipment used. We'll move on to making a point burnisher which will be yours to take away. We'll practice drilling and burr control, create our settings and then using our point burnishers, we'll set numerous stones in copper. Troubleshooting techniques will also be covered in the class. Finally we'll create a flush set pendant in silver to take home. What's included All the equipment and materials you need are provided, including the practice copper, sterling silver and cubic zirconias. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. We break for lunch for an hour between 12.30 and 1.30. What shall I bring? Reading glasses if you use them and magnifying goggles if you have them. Closed toed shoes are advised and please tie long hair back and avoid loose flappy clothes.
