One of our most popular day workshops, and for good reason. You'll leave with a set of three individually crafted silver rings — each one textured, finished, and entirely your own. Working in sterling silver throughout the day, you'll explore a beautiful variety of textures and surface finishes to create a stack that's uniquely yours. One of your rings will be set with a semi-precious stone of your choice, and if you hit your stride, there's even the possibility of a fourth ring before the day is done. Who is this workshop for? This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and anyone at an early stage of their silversmithing journey. You don't need any prior experience — just a willingness to have a go and get stuck in. Please note that a good level of dexterity and close-up vision is helpful for this workshop. Open to participants aged 16 and over; under-18s are welcome with an accompanying adult. What will you learn? This is a brilliant introduction to core silversmithing skills. Over the course of the day you'll cover: Annealing and working with sterling silver Sawing and filing to shape Soldering — the essential skill at the heart of silversmithing Shaping and forming your rings Texturing and polishing for a professional finish Stone setting — you'll set one ring with a semi-precious stone chosen from our selection By the end of the day you'll have a solid grounding in the fundamentals and a set of rings to show for it. Everything you need is provided in our fully equipped workshop in the heart of beautiful Alcester: All tools and equipment Sterling silver for all three (or four!) rings Your choice of semi-precious stone Tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day A lunch break from 12.30–1.30pm (please bring your own lunch — there are great spots nearby) What should I bring?
