Every piece of sea glass has already travelled further than most of us ever will. In this full-day workshop, you'll give it a permanent home — setting it into a handcrafted sterling silver ring, made entirely by you. Sea glass is wonderfully forgiving to work with and endlessly varied in colour and form, which means no two rings ever come out the same. You'll either bring your own treasured piece from home, or choose from our hand-picked selection at the start of the day. From there, the silversmithing is all yours. It's a deeply satisfying combination: an organic, found material held in a precise, handmade setting. The contrast is exactly what makes the finished ring so striking. Who is this workshop for? Open to complete beginners and anyone at an early stage of their silversmithing journey. No prior experience is needed — you'll be guided through every step. A good level of dexterity and close-up vision is helpful. Open to participants aged 16 and over; under-18s are welcome with an accompanying adult. What will you learn? The focus of the day is bezel setting — one of the most satisfying and versatile skills in silversmithing. You'll cover: - Making and fitting a bezel setting shaped to your specific piece of sea glass - Saw piercing and precision filing - Soldering your setting cleanly and securely - Ring sizing and band construction - Stone setting — securing your sea glass within its silver bezel - Finishing and polishing to a beautiful, wearable standard Bezel setting is a technique you'll use again and again if you continue with silversmithing — this is a genuinely useful day.
