Details

Come into the studio, pick your make, and leave with a beautiful handmade piece in sterling silver, copper or brass — a gift for someone else, or something lovely for yourself. This is a relaxed, festive taster session designed for all levels. Choose one of four Christmas makes at the start of the session and we'll guide you through every step. It's proper making — real tools, real techniques, real satisfaction — just in a shorter, seasonal format that's perfect if you've never tried silversmithing before. Choose your make ✦ Christmas Earrings — sterling silver Saw pierce a holly or mistletoe design from sterling silver sheet, then file, form, sand, drill and add stones. Choose a stud or drop fitting. A wearable, classic pair of earrings to take home the same day. ✦ Hanging Bauble — copper or brass A wonderfully meditative make. Saw pierce a bauble design of your choice from sterling silver, then drill, file and polish to a beautiful finish. A keepsake ornament that will come out year after year. ✦ Christmas Tree — copper or brass Saw pierce and texture a delicate Christmas tree from copper or brass, which is then set into a miniature cotton reel base — ready to display on a shelf or windowsill. *(Want to add a gemstone to the top? Book two consecutive sessions and we'll solder a tube setting and set a sparkling cubic zirconia in your second session.)* ✦ Christmas Charms — sterling silver Watch solid silver melt into a liquid ball, quench it, hammer it into a perfect nugget and stamp it with a tree or star. Solder on a jump ring, polish, and attach to a sterling silver chain or cord bracelet. Genuinely magical to watch, and endlessly giftable. Who is this workshop for? Perfect for complete beginners — no experience of jewellery making or metalwork needed at all. A good level of dexterity and close-up vision is helpful. Open to participants aged 16 and over; under-18s are welcome with an accompanying adult. What will you learn? Depending on your chosen make, you'll get hands-on with a selection of real silversmithing techniques. What's included? Everything for your chosen make is provided in our fully equipped studio in the heart of beautiful Alcester, plus tea, coffee and biscuits. What should I bring? Reading glasses if you use them, and magnifying goggles if you have any Closed-toe shoes (essential in a workshop environment) Long hair tied back, and avoid loose or flowing sleeves A non-flammable Christmas outfit is very much encouraged
