About the workshop

Fancy having a go at silversmithing and trying something new? This is the course for you. Starting with the basics you'll soon develop a taste for working in metal. With a full week of sessions you'll be guided through various techniques and also be allowed plenty of time to practice what you're learning and really get the hang of things.

Who is it for?

Beginners onwards. Please note that a good level of dexterity and eyesight is required. Over 16s with accompanying adult.

What will I learn?

We'll work on various projects to allow you to learn the following skills:

Saw piercing, drilling and filing

Annealing, soldering and forming

Texturing and polishing techniques

Chain making

Doming

Riveting

Bezel setting

What's included

All the equipment and materials you need are provided. We'll start working in copper for practice purposes and move through to a beautiful sterling silver bezel set ring or pendant as a final project. Tea / Coffee and biscuits provided. We break for an hour for lunch between 12.30 and 1.30 each day.

What shall I bring?

Reading glasses if you use them, it's very good to be able to see! Also to keep you safe it's best to wear closed toed shoes, tie long hair back and avoid loose flappy clothes :)
